Biography

This profile is part of the Awbrey Name Study.

His birth date is likely closer to 1030 than some other information. This is based on the likely birth year, 1060, of his son Sir Reginald Awbrey.

This individual is also known as Stiant Awbrey, brother of Lord Awbrey, Earl of Boulogne. He came to England with William the Conqueror one or more times. William the Conqueror brought an Army to England three times to conquer and to retain his kingdom. He would then return to France. It is not known If Sancto Alberico returned to Normandy. [1][2]

Finding several St. Aubin's locations surrounding Neuf-Marche in old maps of Normandy, one in particular Saint Aubin-en-Brey, about 10 miles east of Neuf-Marché. The only problem is which ones existed, if any, in the time of Saunder.

There was another Norman family that name switched from Sancto-Albino to St. Aubyn in the same time frame as Saunders/Reginald. Sancto_Albino-3

The Havard's that was also with Bernard in the conquest of Brecon was from Les Flamands, which is about 1.5 miles west of Neuf-Marche. So if we find more companions of Bernard drawn from the locality of Neuf-Marche, I believe the Awbrey's origin could be found in one of the nearby St. Aubin hamlets.
